    Default Mayors Against Illegal Guns

I was reading the typical NRA news alert today and I saw

"Ohio: Another pro-gun mayor wises up to Bloomberg's "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" charade"

Well, I checked out the link. Then for chuckles I went to the MAIG website

It would appear that some of our public servents have signed on to the almost noble sounding mission statement of that group:

“We respect the rights of law abiding citizens to own guns, and we recognize that the vast majority of gun dealers carefully follow the law. Our only interest is in fighting crime -- and we are determined to win. The polarizing rhetoric of gun politics on all sides only obscures the tragic reality we see every day on our streets: violent criminals with easy access to firearms.”

While being unaware of the true Anti Law abiding citizen stance they actually take which is evident in their press releases like:

“…with regard to those frightened and insecure individuals who feel a need to carry concealed weapons.”

MAIG proudly lists their members, I consider it a list of shame...

In any event here's a list if you would like to know if your Mayor is a member. Maybe they don't really know he kind of list they belong too.

Nice that they provided us a "not to vote for" list

I've always thought this group had a very Orwellian name. They should be called Mayors For Illegal Guns, since their whole platform seems to involve criminalizing gun ownership, thus making more guns illegal.

    Chicago mayors? :dunno:

How do I know who my mayor is? I live in this podunk turn of the century looking little town named Bowmansville (not Bowmanstown, which is in the poconos). However my mail comes from Mohnton...so I don't really know where I live, honestly lol. So is the mayor of Mohnton my mayor? If so, I'll be voting against him. If not, does Bowmansville have a mayor at all?

Not only that but they all seem to be easy on crime and the criminal. Not once have you heard a peep out of one on going for maximum jail time, stacking up all the offenses, no plea bargaining, or the death penalty for violent criminals.

Since it's difficult to be proactive in a crime, it's mostly reactionary. Making more laws that will make the law abiding into felons doesn't seem to deal with the current crop of violent felons.

Maybe I'm just looking at it all wrong.

    I can't help but wonder...

How many of these mayors may be like that Ohio mayor in the link who just signed on because it sounded good and have no idea that they've joined a VERY anti-gun group.

Frankly, I find it hard to believe that so many PA mayors (besides Nutter the nut) would choose to join such a politicaly polarizng group.

    So...

If you know any of these people, if it's your neighborhood...

    Let them know !!!
