Outstanding work! Rep sent.
I'll have to wait until I can print it out tomorrow at work. My printer isn't working.

Re: I SAW A MAN WITH A GUN! - Handout - Comments Please
Thanks..... I'll keep the edits going until after Sunday (8/23) and then try to create a REAL FINAL VERSION that folks can print off and handout....
Interesting comment...
I was trying to parallel conversations that are reported here when such an encounter takes place. The frontpage is intended to explain how such an encounter gets started and the body text is what seems to be (rightly so) the responses of the good and upstanding members here who OC on a regular basis... Although I also wanted to explain the general attitude of anyone who carries for Personal Protection, whether openly or concealed, as I see little difference.
I imagine the PAFOA member's responses as being even toned, with no intent to be BOLD, but only respectful and informative.... not that the confronting accusers necessarily takes that tone, though...
Maybe it's BOLD, only in that, these facts and points of view are not widely and openly expressed in public by those who hold them. But the facts and ideas themselves are rather typical (one might even say, mundane) for those who consider Liberty, Law & Order, and Personal Protection of great importance. But you're right, the sheeple _might_ see that as BOLD!
I hope this handout, placed in the hands of reasonable (even if uninformed) people, can avert these types of unnecessary encounters completely.
However, when such an encounter does happen, I hope the handout can be given to those around the encounter (even to the instigator, if they'll take it) as a way for the unknowing to have time to re-read these facts and points of view with the possibility they will absorb the reasonableness expressed within it.
Thanks again...

Re: I SAW A MAN WITH A GUN! - Handout - Comments Please
Constitution of the United States, recognizes the right of EVERY CITIZEN to keep and bear arms unless they have demonstrated themselves to be too irresponsible to do so.
Maybe change this to say, "...to keep and bear arms unless that right has been restricted for an individual through due process of law."
I don't particularly care for the cover image. I don't have any specific suggestions for improvement though.

Re: Another Handout - I SAW A MAN WITH A GUN!
Naturally, this can't be an all exhaustive explanation of every single point being made... so some generalizations are necessary... but I did edit that portion that speaks of 'disqualification' to be more criminal specific....
I did add an asterisk to the various places where I tried to say there were some exceptions to open carry or carry at all.... with an expanded footnote that ends with "Thoroughly research the laws before carrying".
As to the cover picture, I lightened up the person part of the image to make the firearm stand out a little better for photocopying... I chose that particular image format as somewhat difficult to see the firearm, because, in fact, many people DO NOT SEE the firearm that is plainly exposed.... it's just my way of conveying that aspect of this issue visually....
And so I did.... narrowing the wording to a violent confrontation...
Sorry.... I can't bring myself to alter the 'Man with a Gun' title because that so definitely is how the dispatch is typically identified.... It just rings true... (no slight meant to the feminine folks who also stand up for our rights in this matter)...
Thanks again to all who are contributing to make this a valuable (and clearly worded) handout....
Now... all you proofreader-types (I'm looking at you, HiredGoon) please review the material again as I've placed updated WORD.DOC / PDF files in the 1st post of this thread....

Imminent Danger ,
If you need sources to list on the pamphlet to back up the defensive use of firearms by Citizens try either the FBI/DOJ ( The FBI Statistical/Research Branch for lack of a better term ) is called the NIJ National Institute Of Justice . Their reports estimate a minimum of 80,000 to 100,000 cases each year of a lawfully armed civilian stopping a crime.
Alternatively , you can also look at the National Academy of Sciences Report , which examined 19 Different Gun Control programs and their effects .
The NAS estimated a minimum of 750,000 crimes prevented each year by armed citizens , their report also goes into a detailed explanation of why theres such a wide range in the number of estimates .Si vis pacem, para bellum

It might be kind of hard to fit in, but the URLs of a couple of good sites where they can further research the laws might be helpful.
If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:
