Unloaded rifle in the trunk outside of PA?
I'm originally from NY state, and in college, I used to keep an unloaded rifle in the trunk for access to some sort of protection when I travelled back to NY. As far as I knew, it was legal then.
I'm going to do some camping in NY later this summer and I know bringing a pistol into NY is an absolute NO, so I'd like to bring my PREBAN Mini-14 folder. Am I OK to keep it unloaded in the back of my SUV and the ammo in a separate container (loaded mag in the console)?
Anybody have a URL pointing to their law on this?
Thanks.Last edited by RandomTask; June 12th, 2007 at 11:44 PM. Reason: added info on firearm

Check the NRA page for NY.

Be careful, NY has laws against scarry EBRs, and many places consider a loaded mag concealed carry, even in the trunk never mind the console. Also check the magazine size restriction.
