You have friends? no seriously yes i know a few people who use a .50cal for yotes' and groundhogs.
Hell i use a 30-338wby mag for groundhogs and yotes', but i also have a 243wssm, and a 220swift when i dont want to offend the land owner.

yeah stick with the .243 win cuz ammo for the .243 WSSM is hard to find , i had a Winchester Model 70 in .243WSSM caliber it was very accurate i used 55gr and 95gr Supreme Silvertips they were the best. i decided to get rid of it cuz the ammo was so hard to find it just kept getting harder and harder to find so i got rid of it so i had enough money to buy my Bushmaster.

Get a .243 Win they are just as good, the WSSM is just a little faster thats all not much difference. the WSSM was made for long range hunting.
