Posted more as inspiration for other clubs in the area, but Kudos to the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club of Jackson for hosting this event. Plenty of photos at the link below -

Jackson, NJ – On Saturday, The Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club of Jackson hosted an outing for America’s Wounded Warriors, inviting area combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan to join them for a nice day on the range. For some of these men it was the first time they had handled or fired a weapon since their dreadful last day in the combat zone that sent them home , some with pretty serious injuries.

The group spent their day talking about the days where they were dodging RPG rounds, indirect mortar fire and hostile engagements with terrorist forces overseas, recounting thier final days in the combat zones of Iraq and Afghanistan before they themselves became victims, statistics in the global war against terror. Fortunately for these veterans, the Wounded Warrior program treats them as more than just statistics, but as true American heroes.

One prevelant condition our returning veterans suffer, regardless of their physical injuries was the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome our soldiers, corpsman and Marines suffer after prolonged tours in the combat zones. The Wounded Warriors organization helps these men and women cope with their PTSD and the stresses associated with trying to return back to a normal life once they have been treated and released by the military.
