    Default CCP & Pawn Shops?

I've got a buddy that needed $100 for 2 days. He went to pawn one of his 1911's worth around $1000. When he returned in 2 days if he had not had a CCP by Georgia he would have to pass a background check. That's dam sneaky, they should inform you before you pawn it of having a CCP or pass a BG CHECK To get your firearm back. That's dam sneaky the pawn did not mention that because if he could not have passed , the check they would have gotten the pistol for. $100..motive to lie or not inform him? Does your state do this? It was news to me but I have never pawned a firearm or anything else. SNEAKY... But everyone I realize why, they do it. but still they shoud have informed him first.

Its federal law.. ..been that way since Nov 30, 1998.

When you pawn something, you effectively transfer ownership. And for a pawnshop to take and sell firearms, he has to have a FFL. The FFL becomes the owner even temporarily in the case of a pawning. For him to release that firearm, he has to do a NICS or POCS type check on you and you are to fill out a 4473(and maybe any state transfer forms).

PA doesn't have real "pawn shops". But FFL can in-a-way do pawning, but the process would be the same as above.

Yup it works good for the pawn owners. When they (pawn owners) discover your a felon, do they set you up by telling the cops?
