Default My first EBR, and results..

So I finish my first EBR month or so back, and I finaly had time(and enough ammo) to sight it in.

Nothing special - Just Anvil Arms lower, DPMS upper with DPMS government profile barrel and A1 sight.
I think it shoots pretty damn good, no?

5shots group at 100yds, off of bench, open sight, using elcheapo 55gr PMC .223FMJ

Good looking rifle. Good to see someone building an A2 type nowadays.

Yeah I originaly thought about building some cool carbine with all the standard stuff - railed hand guard, A3 upper, folding sight with red dot.
But everyone you know and their brothers have/building carbine, so I wanted something different..

Nice rifle, and good shooting! It's amazing what you can do with factory iron sights. Bill T.

Yeah, that's pretty damn good shooting.

Is the front sight post an A1 style too? 5 notches instead of 4?

wow thats very good with open sights at 100 yards ! i am having trouble with my a3 sights they are kinda difficult to adjust i can get good results out to 25 yards in a standing position but past that it starts to drift off the target... looks like i need to put a small scope on top my flat top bushmaster.

My first AR had A2 sights(F/R), and I was never ale to get it to sight it in right.
Frankly, I'm amazed with accuracy I got with this set up. Grant it, it was off of bench and I took LOOOONG time between the shots, but regardlessly, its still impressed the you know what out of me..
My only wish is that i think I'm going to replace front with something, like fiberoptic or something so that its easier to differenciate front sight post from black target background.
I had really really hard time to see the top of front post..

I'm assuming you are using a Navy hold (center hold)? This type of hold for target shooting is a bit difficult and takes practice. To be successful with the Navy hold, the front sight post needs to be wider that the width of the target black when acquiring your sight picture. Try using a 6 o'clock hold instead. The pic is not exactly correct, but it will give you the idea of a 6 o'clock. You want to position the top of your front sight just touching the bottom of the black (like a lollipop). Adjust you elevation so with this hold your rounds are striking the center of the black.
