Yep, Rome is burning and the elite are out partying.

The good news is they aren't using our tax dollars to pay for it.

That is one way to look at it. I look at it a bit differently, he is spending more in one week than I would say a good portion of Americans make in one year, it may be his own money but he is over paid just as every other snake in Washington. And who pays their salaries? Its good to be king lol.

Who's paying for the secret service agents ? Who's paying for Air force 1 ? Who's paying for the White House staff that travels with the President ?

I think you'll find our tax dollars

Sure there are dishonest men in local government. But there are dishonest men in national government too.

I will agree that those items are paid by our tax dollar - but, they'd be getting paid no matter what - and regardless of where he went for vacation.

And yes it does suck that he can rent a vacation house that cost 35-50k for a week.

But, i refuse to stoop to class envy - regardless of how he "earns" his pay.

However, in these tough times it isn't very bright for the POTUS to be flaunting his wealth while "Rome" is burning for a lot of people.

Maybe but camp David is set up for all that and it cost only the plane fare. I guess he can't put himself in an average Americans shoes. Are you able to rent the same thing for that price ? Financial responsibility at this time is everyones responsibility and protecting our tax dollars should be his

    Barack Obama:
You know, there's a lot of talk in this country about the federal deficit. But I think we should talk more about our empathy deficit -- the ability to put ourselves in someone else's shoes; to see the world through the eyes of those who are different from us -- the child who's hungry, the steelworker who's been laid-off, the family who lost the entire life they built together when the storm came to town. When you think like this -- when you choose to broaden your ambit of concern and empathize with the plight of others, whether they are close friends or distant strangers -- it becomes harder not to act; harder not to help.

I might be able to swing a week a year at one of the low-end houses. . . if I could just figure out how to get everything else for free, AND I stopped paying taxes.

For $35k/week, you oughta get Martha and her three lovely daughters along with the rental. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge. Know what I mean.
