Default Noticed something in a box of CCI .22 WRF

I was window shopping at the local Walmart admiring the .22 WRF (which I consider next on my TO GET list) when something caught my eye about one particular box of CCI .22 WRF. One of the bullets was loaded wrong. The shell was actually damaged in the loading process. It was like somebody took a small notch out of the side of the casing where the bullet is seated. It was too late to get ammo so I couldn't even mention anything to the sporting goods associate...not that I think it would have mattered.

This can't be a common thing, right?

I once had a problem with some cci stuff. I contacted them about it and they sent me several boxes as a replacement.

It is cool that they take customer service seriously. However I'd hate to hear about somebody being injured using that ammo or damaging their gun.

No matter how hard a factory tries at Quality Control, it's inevitable that *something* will slip past the final inspection point(s). When you find recently manufactured ammunition, at the very least contact the company that made it with the lot number (generally found on one of the inside flaps).

If the damage was up at the case mouth, it PROBABLY won't be a problem as it would be enclosed by the chamber. I see this every now and then with 22LR ammo also. They load so many of these rounds and the process is completely automated, it is not unusual for a few rounds to get by the inspections. If the damage was down near the rim, I would be more concerned and would probably toss the round.

Had an issue with Remington once, I still have Nalgenes filled with Thunderbolts I haven't shot through yet.

PS- Yes, 1L Nalgene bottles are a great way to store bulk .22LR, if you have a surplus of them on hand. Can get about 1K into one.
