savage 842 30-30

Hi guys, looking for info on a Savage model 842 30-30 bolt action rifle, found one today for a decent price[200.00], got it for my soon to be 12 year old grandson for his first hunting season, Icant find any info on it, all other models for savage but not the 842, was wondering how dependable they are, any major problems, etc, the rifle is damn near cherry other than a couple small dings in the wood, great shiny bore, great bluing, nice and tight, thanks in advance for your feedback.

I can not find anything for a Savage Model 834 in any of my references. Savage did make a Model 340 in .30-30 and several other calibers. Perhaps it was made by Savage and marketed under another brand.

my father has savage-stevens 325-c, I have shot plenty of groundhogs with it with no issues. I have quite a few higher dollar firearms and I have to say, this is one of my favorites due to its reliability and simplicity.
