Personally I like Ace Sporting Goods.

there really aren't any gun shops in pittsburgh proper. there are some in the suburbs.

ace is great, but pretty far from pittsburgh (it's in washington, PA...45 min to an hour away...in the wrong direction relative to erie).

sportsmen's warehouse used to be good (and closer), but they went out of business.

there is braverman's in wilkinsburg...just outside of pittsburgh. some people really like that place--i find them overpriced personally. the owners seem to be very staunchly pro-2A, though, so ya gotta like that.

i like allegheny arsenal in verona--also not far from pittsburgh--but they don't have a huge selection.

i also like powell's guns in penn hills--not far from pittsburgh either--again, not a huge selection, though.

john brown's armory in rochester PA (near beaver and monaca...north of pittsburgh...basically on your way from erie) gets good reviews from what i have read. i have never been there myself, though.

Sportsmans Supply in Butler - closer to Erie (North side of city) is pretty good.

+1 for Ace. I haunt that place a lot. Most of the people there are great too.

IMO for the best shop ya either gotta go 45min south to ace, or 45min north to butler and sportsmans supply.

It's not that far up that it's closer to Erie, usually about 45min or so from the north hills.

I really prefer Bravermann's in Wilkinsburg. The owner of the shop, Bud, has been in the gun business since back in the 60's and has a ton of knowledge and expereince. His two son's who work in the shop and are great, too!

On the other hand, I can't say a lot good for Allegheny Arsenal. I have been in the shop twice and both times I felt as though I was intruding on the personal conversations of the owners - felt very unwelcome.

I've shopped at Powell's for many years. Best one I've found, but he has really weird hours so make sure you call ahead of time.

Allegheny arsenal is great for title transfers. They're doing it for $25 when everyone else was charging $50 or more.

+1 for John Brown's Armory. Lots of used HANDGUNS AND LONG GUNS. Also a hangout for LEOs from WPA.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
