"If you walk down the street in New York ... you can have the solace of knowing that if someone has a gun on them they've gone through a rigorous police background check. After this bill, you can have no such comfort," Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., said Sunday.
Yes, because we all know that thugs and criminals all go through rigorous background checks before committing armed robbery.

Not NJ, just the two asshat Senators Menendez and Lautenburg. Can't we just give all the liberals California ship them out and let them do what they want over there?
Then we just just tell the criminals hey, easy prey in Cali. Let them test their ideas and see how that works out.

Does anyone deserve such cruel and unusual punishment? Who'll make all the bad movies?

"It also warned that because some states have lax gun restrictions, people who've received no weapons training or who have been convicted of violent misdemeanors or sex offenses against minors would be able to carry concealed weapons across America. "

Are there really states that would issue a CCW or LTCF to people convicted of these types of crimes? That said a little off topic but the Sex offenses depends because that's getting out of hand by charging minors who send pictures of THEMSELVES to other minors of a sexual offense. That's something that's going to haunt those kids for life for just giving in to their hormones.

LOL, and how many non CCW were there in a 2 year period, more than 44 i bet. How about those that were averted because someone has CCW?

Concealed handgun permit holders killed at least seven police officers and 44 private citizens during a two-year period ending in April, according to a study by the Violence Policy Center. "It is beyond irrational for Congress to vote to expand the reach of these deadly laws," said the center's legislative director, Kristen Rand.

The statistic was used yesterday that there are roughly 30,000 deaths due to firearms in the United States...I believe per year, even though this seems high...don't quote me on this. But the point is, over two years CCW holders killed 44 people...so that means (if the stat is right) that illegal guns/gun holders were used in 69,956 deaths over a two year period...

But legal gun owners are still the biggest threat to America...of course...
And don't think you're off the hook, voters, you're the ones who made this bed. Now you're the ones who are going to have to move over so a gay couple can sleep in it. Tomorrow you're all going to wake up in a brave new world, a world where the Constitution gets trampled by an army of terrorist clones, created in a stem-cell research lab run by homosexual doctors who sterilize their instruments over burning American flags. -- Stephen Colbert
