Default "Federal Government overrides states law" Wait what?

    So much for the 10th.

On Friday, we saw the letter ATF sent to FFL dealers in Tennessee telling them the Bureau was overriding the state's Firearms Freedom Act, and would continue to impose federal requirements in disregard of state law.
You have to see the posted letter here. http://www.examiner.com/x-1417-Gun-R...our-authoritah

Yeah but "powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people. "

But then again 14th section 3
"No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

The Supremacy Clause isn't anything new, it's been in the Constitution for over 200 years.

Of course, the Supreme Court didn't bend over and grab its ankles until FDR was president, allowing Congress to do whatever it wanted as long as it used the words "interstate commerce".

But the general principle was in the original deal between the States and the Federal government, that when Congress makes a law which it intends to be supreme, any conflicting State law is rendered moot. Or mute, if you like.
