SKS break down
My dad gave me a SKS for my graduation presdent(publik high skewl) and my dad's worse then me when it comes to semi autos (only owned blots before) and i have no idea how to break it down to clean it. anybody know of a manual or somthing so i can clean it and all that fun stuff?
(will be googleing on my own)

Yes, sksboards.com has a ton of info.
Here's another good one. Look on the right side for how-to articles and reviews/tips. When I got my Yugo, I found the disassembly photos to be very helpful.

Just remember, when you're hammering on a pin to get it out, the general rule of thumb with SKSs is to "use a bigger hammer". You can't hurt an SKS by beating on it with a hammer.
What kind of SKS did you get?

It's actually super easy.
I recommend the surplusrifle.com link that was posted above. You can find the link to the disassembly/assembly instructions along the right hand side. I used those instructions and had no problems when I did it the first time.

Wait, you can take them apart!?!
Actually it was dead simple. I did it without instructions and it wasn't too bad. The link above would have saved me a few minutes of head scratching putting it all back in place.

its a chineese SKS. and the once that link got me started (how to take off the bolt assembly) I was good to go on my own. (my job in the USMC is going to be infentrly/small arm repare)
