    Default Legal Question: What does a Sheriff do over a firearms complaint?

    In this saga over Wendy's the manager told me he called Denny (The Sheriff here in Centre County) and put in a complaint and to "investigate my permit."

    I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear, but just want to receive confirmation from those that know more than me.

    What is the normal process a Sheriff goes through when a complaint is made?

    How is your permit *licence, sorry* relevant to OC again?

    Nearly all Sheriff's will ask the complaining party what all happened to see if any laws were broken. And nearly all Sheriff's will say to the complainer if no law was broke:

    Sheriff/deputy: "OK, we'll check into that. Have a good day."
    {hangs up phone}
    {a couple chuckles}
    Sheriff/deputy: "what a dweeb.."

    Now think about it... what would that manager have to complain about?? Did you leave when you were told to leave? If so, you broke no laws. Did you make any threats? If not, you broke no laws.

    Sheriff Nau is a pro-gun Sheriff. I'm sure he's heard all sorts of lame-ass bullshit stories from the hoplophobic boobs.

    That's what I thought. I feel very comfortable that I broke no laws. Even this morning when I didn't notice the signs. As soon as the manager told me I left the store.

    I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some bizarre clause that required a hearing for every complaint.

    Yeah. The manager seems simultaneously ignorant and rabidly anti-OC.

    That'll happen. Either way, you are probably safe. I agree with Knight.

    he's probably more pissed off that you told his boss than anything. Nothing kills a fast food manager's ego like reminding them they have to answer to a higher authority.

    I doubt he called. He's been shown up and he's just lashing back. On the remote chance that he did, you don't have anything to worry about.

    Have you informed the owner that the manager told you this? I’m sure a polite explanation to the owner that his manager is still instigating a problem for you could do some good.

    Addendum: Never mind… I just saw your other thread.

    Exactly this. Might even want to kick a little extra incentive for the owner and manager...

    Be sure and contact the Health Dept about the deplorable conditions seen by you on your last visit. Insist on an inspection.

    This kind of pissing match will not end well for their business.

    I'll bet this ass-hat backs right the fawk down.

    What part of the state are you in anyway? My wife knows things about commercial kitchens that most health departments don't know, and can spot violations from the parking lot across the street!!

    She used to be Food Services Director for an Assisted-Living facility in Baltimore. Nothing is worse than the requirements for a hospital-type kitchen! By the time she's done, they'll be cleaning up with a bulldozer!

    While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.
