Computer Steve's .38Spl Birthday - Park & Concert
Saturday.... Saturday.... Saturday!!!!
No its not Monster Trucks.... its my birthday 3 saturdays from now and I'm going to be 38 special.
... and the newly renovated "Foundry Park Plaza" park less than one block away is having a concert. That makes it 38special +P (park)
... and there's a bar to the left and to the right of the concert venue. That makes it .38 special +P+
... and just across the creek is the Colonial Complex which has a Courthouse that reminds of us that the words "United States of America" were first spoken in this town after the Continental Congress ratified the Articles of Confederation here. And directly across the street from that, still within earshot of the concert, is the Gates Plough Tavern where it is said to be the location that Marquis de Lafayette thew his support in favor of General Washington, thereby defeating the Conway Cabal and allowing General Washington to remain Commander in Chief. (Some say it did or did not happen AT the tavern, but the Tavern did belong to General Gates)
You could come enjoy a nice Saturday late-afternoon early-evening walking the area looking at the murals and what's left of the historic district (the liberals promote an "arts district" and turned their back on the historic district).
So there's a free concert. The Waterway bar has indoor/outdoor food/drink and you could also bring food to eat on the lawn.
There may or may not be a bricker's fries or other type of vendors. Sometimes they have done that in the past. They also sometimes setup port-o-potties but I can't guarantee how many there are.
From the local newspaper:
Foundry Park concerts get a regular schedule

Downtown Inc has announced the lineup and performance dates for its second annual Spash! Concert Series, and officials are hoping a more consistent agenda will draw even more people to Foundry Park in York City this summer.
"The best part is that it's a regular schedule now," said JJ Sheffer, director of programming for Downtown Inc. In 2008, performers were booked as their schedules permitted, but concerts this year are slated for almost every Saturday through August and September.
"Last year was planned pretty late in the game," Sheffer said.
Splash! began after the overhaul of Foundry Park, a riverside plaza on the Codorus Creek. More than 2,300 people turned out to enjoy last year's concerts, Sheffer said.
The park, along the 200 block of West Philadelphia Street, finished a public-private $780,000 renovation project in June 2008 that enhanced the aesthetics and made it a better site for boat launches.
And the acoustics of the park make it a prime performing arts space, Sheffer said.
"The sound is incredible in there," she said. "It's just a really great venue."
Here's the lineup of performers and the dates they're booked to play. All shows begin at 7 p.m.
---Aug. 1 -- Kingsfoil, Dana Alexandra, Davis Howley and the Diction
---Aug. 8 -- The Backroad, Skyfall, Zach Jackson
---Aug. 15 -- A.D. Chandler, Megan and the Wheelmen
---Aug. 22 -- David Stein, Michelle Lewis
---Sept. 5 -- Mark DeRose Band, Slimfit
---Sept. 12 -- Perkasie, Toy Soldiers
---Sept. 19 -- Steven Courtney and his Band of Friends, Mitch Hood
---Sept. 26 -- Extremity, Jeff Stabley & Friends

Re: Computer Steve's .38Spl Birthday - Park & Concert
Mrs. Curmudgeon has scheduled this weekend as paid vacation days off, she wants to clean house, and we are planning a big garage sale that weekend.
This sounds like an awesome way to end a big weekend, Sunday late afternoon into the evening.
I just want to do some research about OC at this event. I have no doubt it is legal in the park. But I would like to verify that someone doesn't think they have authority to ban weapons at this event.
So...
Who else is going?

The Stadium will also be having a "Fireworks Spectacular" at the conclusion of the York Revolution ball game which you will be able to see from the park.
So you've got a concert, things to walk around and see, and fireworks.
FYI: The shotspotter system will be overloaded/disabled during the display. ROFL.
