    Default Those TASCO scopes

In my local walmart today I saw that Tasco now makes red dot scopes.

I know, I know, I'm behind the times.

I got a great deal on a 12ga. slug barrel and I'm looking for some glass to stick on it - for $40, is it worth my money? I wouldn't put one on my thousand yard gun, but for ~75yd deer sluggin' I figure it couldn't be all that terrible.

All of the dot scopes, even those in big box stores, are pretty decent. Tasco, Simmons & BSA make reliable scopes especially when you look at the pricing. If you want to shoot/wingshoot like never before, put a dot on your skeet or sporting clays gun. After five shots to get used to it you will shoot like an expert.

I wouldn't consider a red dot a scope. For $40 give it a try...if it falls apart, you only wasted $40. I personally would save another $40 and buy an UltraDot StrikeDot.

$40? I got mine for $30 from Kmart. I like it well enough. I've used it on my Ruger MKIII pistol and Ruger 10/22 rifle.

I am sure glad I quit shooting skeet a few years ago. I can just imagine what it looks like today with squads of shotgunners that look like they just got off the SWAT bus.

I've never had a red dot of any type, but many years ago gave up on Tasco anything, every one I've ever seen were crap, you spent more money on ammo trying to sightin than the scope was worth cause adjustments were VERY erratic and once sigted in if you got lucky, they never held zero, except once in a while they held on a .22rf.
