Default Triple Seven Powder in a Flintlock

    Hi folks,
Just wondering if anyone has tried triple seven powder in their flintlock? How does it compare to the old black powder?

    Thanks

I have, but only about 6 shots, was not impressed at all. Cleanup was fairly easy but the boom, shove and smoke all felt different. Seems to have more trouble getting the 777 to go off, could have been the conditions but I'm not convinced - I had to pull 2 balls with 777 loaded down the pipe.

Keep in mind I ran through a pound of the same load of FFF of good old stinky black powder before I tried 777.

The 777 is in cold storage and may go for another use - I am going back to some Goex or Elephant 3F

    Thanks for the info, Bogleman.
I bought a pound a few months ago to try in my 45/70 loads, but haven't got that far yet.
I'll know to keep it for that, and not run any down my percussion cap muzzle loader.
If you wish, I'll thread here when I find out how it works in my 45/70 versus Goex and Pyrodex.

Don't waste your time!!! You will have MAJOR problems getting T7 to burn in a flint lock, it is passable in a percussion gun but why bother. Once you try black you will never go back.

A Republic, if you can keep it.

Although I have not tried it, as I don't shoot my flintlock much anymore. But some friends back home put in 20 or 30 grains of goex bp, then top off with 777. Always seemed like more work than is worth it, but it does work effectively for them.
