Thanks for clearing that up for me. There was a guy trying to tell me his .308 has a flatter trajectory than my 30.06 with a 150 gr in it...I dont know about that but he told me his .308 is flat out to 300-400 yards...I guess I can call him on his bluff!

I know that wind deflection and the wieght of the bullet and the charge behind it is important as well along with what style of bullet you shoot. I was just asking because like I said he was trying to "out-do" me since I just recently purchased my 30.06. Thanks!

No, you're definately right my friend, your 30.06 is a flatter shooting caliber than the .308 with any bullet weight. I'd laugh at him if he told me that it was "flat shooting" out to 300-400 yards, it shoots the same arc every single time, you just adjust that arc for your distance. But the ballistics are still very manageable in terms of dialing in at those distances, but it's still not a flat shooter. Your rifle does suffer from what is known as "over bore" though, whereas he doesn't have that. It shortens barrel life, and means that not all of the powder from your cartridge is actually used when firing the round. Everything has it's trade offs my friend, lol. Either way, you can definately call his bluff.

BSA makes a 6-24x44 model for like $120. Bushnell I think has a 'cammed' BDC (Bullet-drop-compensator) model in 3-9x40+ model. Comes with 5-6 cams that match you ammo. May make life easier. About $130 or less also.

just put a nikon 4.5 to 14.5 monarch found a good deal for under 300 bills.but this is the mill dot so love it out to 100 yards is so clear you can see your bullet make the hole.for the price you can't go wrong.

remember and old timer told me once don't go cheap on your scope.
