definitely hear you there, but it would be nice for new comers to be able to see the type of support we have here at PAFOA to keep people aware of PA gun laws.

Excellent work Patriot. If you could forward this to Stroudsburg Regional Police, Swiftwater and Fern Ridge State Police (Both are Troop N I believe), and Pocono Regional Police. That would cover most of monroe county out in my end. It would be much appreciated!

    Bump for Bethlehem PD.

Could this be made a sticky for easy location by law enforcement agencies? I received a call this morning from Bethlehem PD. We've been playing phone tag all day, but the officer has stated that they are aware of the information in the training memo, and expressed interest in where the document itself may be found.

I just got an e mail from my fiancee. We got a thank you letter from one of the Sheriffs. It seemed like Allegheny county. I'll post more details when I get home after midnight or so tonight.

Coming home was double plus good tonight. In addition to all the usual joys of getting home after a 16 hour shift, my New Hampshire Pistol/Revolver license was waiting for me, along with the letter my fiancee had mentioned. The letter is from Sheriff William P. Mullen, Allegheny County Sheriff. It looks to be on official letterhead. Tomorrow or Friday we will knock the pile of crap off of our scanner, and see if it still works. If it doesn't, then I'll take the letter to Staples and see about getting it scanned. In the meantime here is the content typed as exactly as I can right now.

    My Name and address

    Dear Mr. Me:

Thank you for taking the time to supply me with the "Open Carry of a Firearm in Pennsylvania" training bulletin. I appreciate your regard and research to remain compliant with firearm statutes in Pennsylvania.

As the law enforcement agency responsible for the issuance, revocation and management of firearms licenses in Allegheny County, I assure you that the Sheriff's Office dedicates extreme care in the operation of our firearms Division. This includes staying conversant with all laws and practices relative to carrying a firearm in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Your provided literature will be kept on file in the Sheriff's Office.

    Very truly yours,
    Sheriff William P. Mullen
    County of Allegheny
Would it be weird of me to have it framed, and hang it on the wall?

That's awesome, truecrimson. If only more sheriffs were as courteous and appreciative as Mr. Mullen.

OK, it's too big, and when I tried to reduce it it got all fuzzy, so here is a link to the scan hosted on my web space. I cut out my name and address, but it is otherwise unaltered.
