Default Dropped My Gun... No biggie

I got into my car today with my .45 on my hip and closed the door. I pull my gun out of the holster to wipe down any excess oil from just cleaning it earlier in the day and didn't want any oil on my White T-shirt and drove about 100 yards to the local 7-11. Now the gun is still on my lap because this all went on for about 2 minutes, that's how close this 7-11 is. As I step out, I totally forget that my gun is on my lap (kinda what I do with my cell a lot), Stand up and *BAM*!!!!!!!!!!! falls right into a sewage drain that is getting redone about 9 inches away!!! it bounced and went right into the drain.

I watched it like it was in SLOW-MO. then I put my head down in shame. Tried calling the township but its SUNDAY. My luck, its probably washed away by the water flow...

umm, My day was ummm, pretty shitty.

wow.......uhhhh, i think i would set up camp there untill somebody came to help, would the legal eagles step in here and let us know if he could get in trouble if somebody other than the owner got ahold of it....?

Dude... in all honesty, this is not something I'd post online. I feel your pain but, I think the fewer people who know about this the better.

What a hell of a way to demonstrate how to be a careless gun owner.
You need to attend some classed on firearm safety before you carry anymore.
What will your next trick be, to shoot a hole in the floor of your car at a busy intersection?

I usually don't get into debates, but why would you unholster your gun to wipe it down outside of your home, gun range, etc?

Agree, big mistake in taking it out of the holster in the first place.

You could grab a flashlight, a mirror on a telescoping extension, some fishing line and a very strong magnet. Might be able to fish it out of the drain yourself. I doubt it's gone far; is this an all steel gun or a polymer frame?
