Thumbs down Re: OrionBricks - FREE CAMPER OR $750!! tow from TN to PA

Here is my experience. First the add:

I dont have a way to tow it back to PA, My loss your gain.

I have 2 options for you.

Option 1. Tow my 25ft camper from N.E. TN to S.E. PA, for $750, I did the math and if your truck gets 10 mpg and it cost $2.05 a gallon, round trip would be $300 fuel cost.... So you make at least $450 profit for 20 hr round trip driving, $22 an hr aint bad now a days.

Option 2. I will give the camper to you for free if you go pick it up and tow it back to me, I have belongings inside I want,,, but you pay the gas etc and make zero money, but get a free camper!

Here's the deal on the camper.
Its a 1984 25ft (including tounge) Terry Taurus made by Fleetwood. UNLADEN WEIGHT 2850. I have title in hand.
Less than 6 months ago I completely waterproofed the roof and sides, as well as fix the inside up, also put new plumbing throughout the camper, new elec water heater, pipes, holding tank etc..

Tire's a less than a year old, it's only been sitting in TN since November.

It has 2 entry doors, propane heat,, propane/electric refrigerator,, double sink, bathroom w/ shower, propane stove w/ oven, TV, sleeps 4 comfortably.

Its a very nice, but older camper. You could easily sell it for close to $2000, or move right in to it, I stayed in it for over a month before when hunting during winter.

It has valid PA tags, to tow it back your going to need to put some tow lights on it (get portable ones at pepboys for $20) and your going to need the tow ball, I forget the size, its over 2" and under 3". (What ever the biggest 2+ inch there is.)

So basically you can have a camper for around $300, or you can make $750.

If choosing to get paid, and not keep the camper, I will give you half upfront and half when you return.

Some people have emailed me concerned about what "belongings" I have in the camper, I assure there is nothing illegal in the camper, I will gladly allow you to inspect its contents prior to you towing it.
I would like to have it done within the next 2 weeks, if necessary I will take the ride with you, but I'd rather not.

Also,,,, campers do not need or have insurance, its covered under the tow vehicle's insurance.

YOU MUST BE A RELIABLE HONEST PERSON, WITH A VALID LICENSE, CLEAN RECORD AND A TRUCK THAT WILL HANDLE IT.

    Thanks.

IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THIS ONE, BUT WITH NO AC UNIT ON TOP.

Thus far this has been a serious disappointment. Please see the next message for the story.

Thumbs down Re: OrionBricks - FREE CAMPER OR $750!! tow from TN to PA - Continued

    Continued from the message above:

Sorry that the story is long, but narrated for completeness.

I contacted OrionBricks (OB) about the camper and we agreed to go ahead, but OB needed to have the camper moved off the mountain site it was located at in TN by a neighbor who would also help me when I got down there. I was interested in keeping the camper, although OB preferred to keep it.

I contacted OB after a couple weeks and he said the camper was ready to hook up and go.

So I met up with OB Off I went. Commendable - OB gave me the signed (not notarized) title in advance and $100 cash to pay the TN neighbor for his help.

I travelled down through VA (stopping to visit family) then west through NC. A couple hours from the site, I called the neighbor as instructed to coordinate and he informed me that OB HAD JUST CALLED HIM THE DAY I LEFT AND THAT THE CAMPER WAS STILL UP ON THE MOUNTAIN AND COULD LIKELY NOT BE BROUGHT DOWN DUE TO THE TORRENTIAL RAINS AND FLOODING SINCE! I was less than happy but at 10+ hours from home, I thought I'd push on and survey the situation to see for myself.

I get there and we go over and hike up up to the camper, 100 vertical feet UP a 30+-degree dirt grade with several trees down accross it. Long story short, several hours later, we've actually got it down and ready to go just ahead of darkness and the next wave of storms.

I get it back and the next day OB and his girlfriend come and get their stuff. OB reiterates wanting to keep it and I said my wife and I would think it over for a few days (now that we could actually see in it). We decided that it really wasn't what we really wanted in the end, and since OB still wanted it, then it was better to let him have it.

I called OB and he was glad we were OK with the he keeps it, and I get paid option. OB needed to arrange a camp site at one of a couple of places around Scranton so needs a few days - no problem.

A couple weeks later, after not hearing from him I called him. He was busy at the moment and promised to call me back - I never got a call.

I followed up with several PM's in June and July but never got a response. Phone is disconnected. I know he has been on the board, including within the past week, and has narrated his new truck in a thread.

The ultimate upshot is this was a very frustrating and unsatisfying result. I should have given the title to the neighbor in TN, kept the $100, and walked away. The most frustrating thing is I can't even get a response with what the status is. I still want to complete what we agreed to.
