Default I'm mad at Springfield and I let them know it.

With the release of the XDM. I'm sure like me. Many XD owners were excited. Springfield was bringing out a Match Ready XD. Plus one that may fit my betterhalfs hands better since she has such small hands. I was all ready to run out and buy one. Then I heard the bad news.

The new XDM didn't take the old XD magazines. They had changed them slightly so that they wouldn't work. YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!!!

The more I thought about this the more it p*ssed me off. I have spent a lot of money on my current selection of XD's. Magazines aren't cheap, and I have built a small collection of them. I have two full size XD's and a subcompact. I can use all my full size mags in all the XD's I have. Even the full size ones will fit in the subcompact allowing me to use them in both pistols.

Why would you bring out another XD and not let the magazines interchange. Heck, even Glocks do this. And I'm not a Glock fan, but they are smart enough to keep the mags the same for convenience and customer benefits. If it is an XD, the mags should work in all XD's.

If you can't use the mags from the XD's in the XDM. It shouldn't be called an XD. It should have been called something different. I wrote and let Springfield know it too. They sent me a reply that just said that the XDM is a different' pistol. Well, Duhhhhhhh. Then don't call it an XD.

Please feel free to write Springfield and express you displeasure. I know I have talked to many that aren't happy about this. And we need to let Springfield know it. It really p*sses me off, cause I know the main reason reason they did it, was to 1) ride off the reputation of the XD. 2)Make us buy new "EVERYTHING" if you wanted this pistol.

    I'm not happy.

    Rant over.

I knew there was a reason I didn't care for the new XDm's. Just one more way of corporate America trying to rob the working man.

Either it is a XD or it isn't. If it is an XD, my magazines should fit in it. Apparently it isn't. It really is a new pistol in my opinion. I'm P.O.ed big time at them. I really see it as a way to make us buy a new pistol, and all the goodies for it too. I finally can say something bad about Springfield.

couldn't agree more... Thats like when Logitech released the g15 keyboard (version 2, but still called 'g15') and it was completely different. Different key layout, colors, functions, etc... and had the balls to discontinue the g15v1..

I know its not firearm related, but I figure its the same pain and feeling.
I swore to never buy another Logitech product again and still sometimes feel the rage building within me over it.

I may not have gone that low..... But I did consider buying another M&P instead. In fact, I have one I was selling. I just might have to take it to the range and see what I think.

I'm trying to get a set of pistols for me and the betterhalf. I really needed the new handgrip of the XDM for the betterhalf. She can shoot the M&P, but the XD is just a bit big for her hands. I really wanted to get us both shooting the same pistol for convinence of magazine swapping. Also gives me a back up pistol when I go to bigger matches that she won't go too.

Whenever the XDm was introduced at the Shot Show, I remember Rob Leatham stating, "don't let the name fool you, this is a completely redesigned gun" Springfield took all of the complaints and suggestions and reworked the gun.

Then don't call it an XD. They are riding off the "great rep" that the XD has to sell this pistol. It is an XD or it isn't. Which is it.

    Sorry, still P.O.ed at Springfield.
