Strip it all clean
Ok , I ordered my duracoat (combat black) for my new to me Star BM. Ive decided it shoots so well that I want it to look as good as it shoots. Ive done my Sigma in duracoat already but it was just the polymer part. Im doing the entire gun this time. Does anyone know a good cleaner that I can come by easily ( lowes/HD ) that will clean all traces of oil/grease and stuff off?

The best degreasers I know we sell where I work.
Super Grease Cutter is awesome it air dries and you don't really need to rinse it off ( I would anyway since your painting).
Solvit works the same way though not as popular.
You can get them at R.E. Michel Co.

That's the Lancaster branch, I don't happen to work there. Call first, ask for Bob and tell him a buddy of yours said they might have Solvit in stock.
It's a wholesale place, so they might turn you away.

If you want to remove EVERYTHING, use Naval Jelly. It will strip the blueing and all else. Advance Auto sell sit as RUST REMOVAL GEL. It's pink. Wear gloves.

Re: Strip it all clean
naval jelly has to be washed off with hot water and the parts air dried with a hair dryer or low temp (200*) oven bake. Braakleen auto parts cleaner is much easier to use. just put in the jet tube and squeeze away. wear rubber gloves or you might have crazy dreams and want to jump off of buildings.

Re: Strip it all clean
Ok , I duracoated the Star BM today. I will post pictures tomorrow, but in the mean time. Since I painted It the Slide stop assembley doesnt want to hold the slide open. I sanded the paint off the slide area and everything fits fine so any ideas? Everything works but that. I can use it without the slide stop it just wont lock open when empty. I might just order a new assembley I might have bent it a fraction and that is what the problem is. I dont know.
