I think that pretty much sums it up.

In what way does America have better principles? If anything, Europe has better principles since they have better environmental policies, they do more to avoid unnecessary wars, they abolished the death sentence (a punishment that mostly impacts poor inmates in America who never really had a shot at life), and more is done to make sure that children do not live in abusive homes. That just scratches the surface.

If anything Europe (I'm generalizing here) has better principles than America. Yes, the taxes are higher and the government is more bureaucratic, but that is what it takes to accomplish those goals.

Yeah, this is so off topic now it is not even funny. If I wanted to live like a European I would move there. My forefathers left there to come to this nation for a better life. Sadly it seems to many people in this country today want to be like Europeans. Let the government have more control, they know what is best.
Was WW1 necessary? I am sure some could argue that WW2 was avoidable. I know we bailed them out twice.

I have 2 friends that live in Norway and 57% of their income goes to taxes. they have piss poor healthcare, (their words, not mine). you are told when to go on vacation, yes you have to schedule everything, no spur of the moment trips.

in some ways, america has more liberty than any other country. particularly when it comes to gun rights...i don't think any other country is on par with us. we are at least near the top when it comes to free speech rights, as well. and our private property rights are at least up there. we have more freedom of religion than most countries.

in other ways, though, we have much less liberty than some other countries. when it comes to having control over what you do with your own body, for example, we are way behind. the war on drugs, anti-prostitution laws, suicide being illegal, etc. etc. these are all severe restrictions on liberty. we lag far behind many countries when it comes to liberty in these areas.

democracy and liberty are not the same thing at all, btw. in fact, democracy without a constitution constraining it often leads to severe restrictions of liberty...minorities end up being subjected to the whims of the masses and you get mob rule.

we have a long, long way to go, though, before we even get close to the ideal that individuals have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. the nanny state is antithetical to that...the more the nanny state grows, the further we get from that ideal.

Well I basically found the answer to my question. Some people insist on economic isolation, even though it reduces economic efficiency.

The Europe that your forefathers left is not the Europe that exists today. It is much easier for people to make ends meet in that nation. I don't think its sad that more people want t imitate the European model. I think its sad that there is so much economic inequality in the U.S. Not everyone had the same opportunities in life.

I was not talking about WWI and WWII. I was talking about the War in Iraq and the War in Afghanistan. Bush kept telling the American public about how there would be all of these weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Where are they? They still haven't found any nuclear missiles in Iraq. What a bummer. Afterward, he stated that we had to finish the job even though there were no weapons of mass destruction. If that was his philosophy, then why didn't he declare war on every nation that he considers to be ruled by a tyrant?

I worked hard for my opportunities. Imagine that, working for what you want.

So the basic concepts of american life makes you sad? America has opportunities for everyone that wants to work hard for it, not to be handed out by the government.

I try to buy American mostly because we have a history of manufacturing the best products. Now that can't be said for everything the we've ever made, but for the most part it can. I love my 1953 GE beer refrigerator.

As far as firearms go. If a foreign made one is that much better than a U.S made one I'll buy it. But I'll look at a U.S firearm first.

And as far as cars go, I'm 100% Domestic. Sorry guys but Japan or Germany does't use special fairy dust to make there cars better. I've owned about ever foreign make there is to own. There is nothing special or better about them.
Is every car made by a U.S manufacturer great, no. Neither are the imports.
P.S I worked at 2 Honda dealers if anyone wants to talk shop.

Complete Liberal B.S professor garbage. We're not talking about tariffs .
We're talking about taking pride in buying American.

Cold hard facts is when we had a manufacturing based economy it was strong and actually based on something tangible.

Fact, China has doubled its economy by becoming the world leader in manufacturing.

This service based economy of pushing paper back and forth and delivering pizzas to one another is only destined to fail.

    We we, Herr Socialist.
No thanks, as far and as fast as this country is headed for the shitter there is no other place in the world like it.

I'll take the lack of the goverments intervention (I would like even more).
And nothing about 60% taxes appeals to me.

And another great thing about this country is you sir have the right to sing the praise of a socialist society, while I have the right to tell you to fuck off!
