My first "NON HUNTING" rifle
Just made final agreements on a Romanian AK
this will be my first non hunting rifle, AK's seem to be a "decent" choice.
I will get more info to you when I receive the rfile, probably next weekend.
AS for now it is a romanian AK 7.62x39 wasr 10/63
I will post pics, as soon as I can.
Looking for mods advice.
Like I said, this is my first, so be gentle!

Re: My first "NON HUNTING" rifle
modify an ak? what do you plan on doing to it?
is it a folder or a wood stock?
1. buy ammo.
2. buy more ammo.
3. shoot afore mentioned ammo.
4. repeat steps 1-4 often.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: My first "NON HUNTING" rifle
when not buying ammo, mags or shooting, your free time is well spent loading mags in order to free up more room to stock more ammo in order to shoot more which will free up more room for ammo.
it would be in your best interest to just drop ship the thing to me in order to save yourself from the unending cycle of buying loading shooting buying loading shooting....
there is no cure. i'm already infected, i know my fate, think not of me, but save yourself.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: My first "NON HUNTING" rifle
Buy US made parts if you want to truly modify your WASR 10 to be 922R compliant.

Re: My first "NON HUNTING" rifle
these wasr's seem to be prone to several issues, most of which i would call cosmetic.
common issues.
canted front sight base
canted gas block.neither really effect function, depending how much/bad they are. but it can make the rifle look real bad. and these things are not known to be any beauty contest winners to begin with.
there are some possible function issues.
they came into the country as single stack, low cap weapons. the mag well was ''opened'' here to allow the use of high cap mags. some times they got a little carried away while doing the opening allowing for whats called ''mag wobble. very few times is it bad enough to cause function problems. other times they do not open it enough to fit all mags, the one or two that came with it might fit but others do not. no biggie just make th ehole bigger.
but once you get any issues sorted, they run like the bullet hose it is.
i picked one up a few weeks ago. a wasr in underfolder ''style''. i'm thorughly addicted to them at this point. i need to find a wooden stock version, i'll go with wasr agian(just cause i like the under dog) and a home build is in the future as well.
the 762x39 carries about the same punch as a 30-30.
i preffer the ak over the ''other black rifle'', it's just plain out more fun to shoot.
most people would call the wasr's the bottom of the barrel quality wise, i call thetm cheap, good fun.Last edited by brian; September 26th, 2012 at 05:28 PM.

Re: My first "NON HUNTING" rifle
I'm almost done modifying mine, waiting on pistol grip to come in and I'll post pics.
The only problem your going to experience, is the 10/63 is a single stack like mine I believe I have a 10/63 as well. Cant remember and I'm in class now.
This can be modified from what I understand but have yet to find good instructions on moding it over to accept a double stack.
Edit: Correction looking at your pics it looks like yours is a double stack. so NM.
