Mauser M1916
I saw a nice Mauser M1916 at a local shop. Looked decent and the price was right. It is chambered in .308 win. Some online research says it's probably 7.62 NATO vs. .308 win.
Is this a decent rifle? Anyone own/shoot one?

Re: Mauser M1916
I have a Chilean Mauser, M1895, chambered in .308, or 7.62X51 NATO.
Both cartridges fire fine in mine, either commercial .308, or my reloads, or surplus 7.62X51NATO, which is the military designation for the .308Winchester cartridge.
Is your model 1916 based on the model 98, or on the model 95?
If it is a model 98 based receiver, it will have a 3rd locking lug on the bottom of the bolt in the area of the bolt handle/bolt body junction.
Or, another way to know is, does it cock on closing, or opening? Model 98's cock on opening, all other models, with a few exceptions, cock on closing.
My Commision 88 cocks on opening.
