Default Great Low-Recoil Factory Load for .38 Snubbie

I have a S&W 642, and was always looking for ammo that would be easy to shoot for a beginner - thinking about getting my family into it. I knew the kick from your basic WWB FMJ would annoy them and they'd quit right away.

Well, I just went to the range last night and tried some Ten-X 105gr TFP. You can find the ballistics info at their site.

It hardly had any recoil at all. So, if you have a .38 snubbie like an Airweight or something, and you want to start out light, try these. They are more expensive, but just to start out, it's worth it, I think. I don't reload (yet) so my only option was factory.

I have nothing to do with the Tex-X company... I just saw it referenced on the net, tried it, and liked it. I hope I can get set up to reload soon, and maybe I'll be able to copy that load and save a lot of money.

You can also look for .38 wad cutters. I've started a lot of people on them and then work them up. A lot of ranges sell them as reloads.

I've heard a lot about wadcutters, yes. But I was told this Ten-X was even lighter. I'll definitely get some wadcutters next time, though. I'm sure they're cheaper. Georgia Arms has them. Thanks for the info.

One thing I noticed with these Ten-X... they are DIRTY!
