    Default Mag pouches

Looking for some info on the hard kydex AR mag pouches that are made by Blade-Tech and sold by Brownells. Does anyone know if they are compatable with a Mollie vest instead of using a belt? I have been kicking around the idea of trying them but I don't want to spend $30+ for one to findout it doesn't do what I need.

Give the tech guys at Brownells a call, they should be able to answer your questions. I have found them more than helpful every time I've called about something.

Buy them directly from blade-tech and get the "MOLLE-LOK" option as the attachment method.

One issue to consider is that in most cases, unless you're wearing armor, the mag may not release due to the friction fit of the kydex. IOW as you extract the mag from the pouch the vest / chest rig, etc. will have a tendency to "ride up". This obviously doesn't happen with belt mounted kydex pouches because the belt keeps the pouch "anchored".

In the case of plate carriers, the weight of the body armor keeps the carriage system from "riding up".

If you adjust the tension of the pouch to the point that they release, there may not be adequate retention.

That's one of the reasons I posted the link to the ITW pouch, it's more of a clamshell design which may serve his purposes better and has adjustable tension and a retainer.
