Default Walther P99 AS or QA

Im looking into buying a Walther P99 along with some other things. Could someone please tell me whats the deal with AS (Anti-stress) and QA (Quick-action). Whats the difference? Someone tryed to explain it to me on another forum but the post only served to make me more confused. Detailed pictures would help lol.

The only real differences is the way the triggers work.

The QA is like a Glock(minus the safety thingy on the trigger). The striker is partially cocked, and when you stroke the trigger it cocks it the rest of the way, then releases the striker.

The AS model, ...someone else who owns one will have to explain that. I only have the QA model.

When I was at the Valley Forge gun show, the woman from Haycock Hollow Arms in Quakertown explained the whole thing to my daughter. Unfortunately I was not paying close attention. I do remember that she recommended the AS. I am sure that if you called them, they would explain it to you.

The AS model I can somewhat explain in lamens terms.

So when you take a handgun to the range that starts out double action for the first shot and single for the rest, ever notice how the second shot sometimes is off because you weren't expecting the "shorter" pull for any given reason?

The anti stress model is kind of a built in almost a safety but not.

After the first double action pull, every trigger pull after that is the same length but lighter.

I dont know if that makes sense but the QA has that "quick action" (duh) but they say in stressful situations its likely to go off like a glock if you jump and shoot.

Lets be real here (gun safety issues aside)... if your in an extremely stressful situation and someone pops out real fast, what can go wrong.... ya know.

In theory the trigger will not go off accidentally (because of the longer pull) in a stressful situation thus making it safer (If your in a jumpy situation or whatever).

I researched this alot because I was going to buy one and this is my basic understanding of it.

Its a very neat gun. it almost gives you the functionality of a revolver.... pull the trigger... its gunna go bang... explained at the end of the video below.

Also in the video the guy explains how the trigger action works and stuff.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyOZN_44Xd4

this is the only gun with this trigger mechanism.

I had a hard time looking for one.

    hope this helps

The only problem with QA is it can be decocked, and you may not know it. Which would mean you would pull the trigger and nothing would happen.

Thats why it has a cocking indicator at the back of the slide. The end of the striker is painted red, if you see it - its cocked.

I know. And you're right about that. I just wanted to point out the cocking status feature.
