Default Picked up a Norinco 1911 at the PA Gun Collector's show today

It has some surface rust a few places, but the insides look pretty new. It doesn't seem like it was shot much at all.

I'll post pics as soon as I get them up on photobucket.

It's still a little oily, I went a little crazy wiping it down after I got it home.

Congrats. Norc's are good platforms for builds. They come with really good barrels and the the receiver is made of the strongest steel of ANY 1911 made - 5100 carbon steel.

Their finish isn't all that great, and sometimes the slide/rail fit is a little sloppy, but both can be remedied(newly fit/honed slide and refinishing).

Congrats on your new Norinco, they are a great base gun to build on. Knight's is a great example of their potential. Best of luck with it, you found a nice one.

Thanks for all the feedback. I had read that Norcs are some of the few guns that Ed or Les will accept as a base for a build, that's one of the reasons I couldn't pass this one up.

Is it true that the Norincos accept all USGI parts?

How much do one of these generally run?

All except if you have to replace the grip bushings - they are a metric and nonstandard part(including the threaded hole in the receiver). Any other part may require fitting like any other 1911.

$250-$400 used on the market. They are no longer allowed to be imported, and haven't been in a decade or more.

Huh! I simply put new grips screws on my Norinco Model of the 1911A1 without any problems.
