Default Fathers day with my dad, son and a couple of .22s

If you have read my thread about an encounter while OC at Wegmans from yesterday. I decided to take my sons advice and do a little plinking today. We went to my dads house to shoot some .22s.

Well my son had DVR'd some programs about trick shooting. Today he asked me about shooting quarters like guys on the show. I told him I have never tried and we can't do that because the bullet would go too far. He pulled a quarter out of his pocket and used 3 thumbtacks to hold it to the backstop. Thats when the shit talking started.(some times my 11yo son thinks he is as good as dad)

Son: Dad I will bet you 20 pushups and lunch at McDonalds I can hit this before you, I get to go first.

Me: Ok, but the bet is 20 pushups not 2 sets of 10.

    Son: Ok, deal.

We were shooting at about 40 yds.(max distance at my dads place) Jeffrey shoots and missed just to the right, I shoot and the quarter falls to the ground.(I hit the lower left tack)

Son: That doesn't count...you have to hit the quarter

Me: I know, fix it and it's your turn....

I guess I taught him a little too well, he got it on his second try. Here are some pix. Even though I lost, it was still a great day.

I am betting that is going to be one of the proudest moments in your son’s life… finally pwning his father. Good job spending time with and encouraging your son!

He had my mom come out and take pics of me doing the pushups with him counting.... Everything with him always turns into a competition. This is the first time he has beaten me at shooting. This victory was a few hours ago... I still hear about it every few minutes...

It is now Monday morning, I am back to work, my son called to remind me to tell all of my Army buddies how he beat me.

I am never gonna hear the end of this.

I would have told him, "Lucky shot, best of three quarters"

    Sounds like a great day.

Sounds like you are doing a good job with your son. Congrat's for that and thanks for your service. We need more like you and your son for this great USA to continue! You should hope you never hear the end of it. Enjoy life.
