10/22 Target
Thought I would share this pic of my target 10/22. On a good day it puts 5 under a nickel at 50 yds. It's got...
Boyds Evolution SS stock
GM 20" bbl
VQ hammer
Tasco 6-18 x 50 AO scope
ext. mag release
VQ bolt release
recoil buffer
hex head takedown screw
home mods...
post travel screw in trigger
screw in back of receiver to tighten trigger group
trigger work, <2# trigger, glass smooth, 3-5mm pull
Enjoy, Nate

Re: 10/22 Target
Very, very nice. I always wanted a target 10/22 since I was about 10 years old, making it the gun I wanted for the longest and still didn't get. I just can't seem to justify paying more than 4X what the gun is worth, but then looking at yours I realized its an investment.
Consider this my next rifle, thanks. My wife is going to be mad at you!If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat?

Re: 10/22 Target
Nice looking rifle, i have the target version in stainless, i did the VQ bolt release and polished all friction points, rounded the lower face of the bolt, shimmed the hammer, disconnector, trigger, and sear, put a setscrew in the trigger plunger to adjust overtravel, and two setscrews on each side of the receiver to tighten up the trigger group. Also clearenced the action from the stock (got conflicting feedback about floating the barrel as the target barrel is quite heavy and i didnt want all the stress on the aluminum reciever so i bedded the first third of the barrel back to the takedown screw), also on a sidenote, some of the takedown screws are longer than others so check that its not bottoming out on the barrel, this will change your point of impact when you takedown the rifle unless you get it tourqed the same every time. did the buffer rod also, the only thing i want to do yet is drill the back of the reciever do i can clean from the breach to the muzzle so i wont nick the crown. i know what you mean about the nickel, i think the rifle is capable of that at 75yds but my reticle gets so big at that point that i cant see the bull anymore! didnt want to spend a fortune on a scope for a 10/22 but now that i know its shooting this well i gotta keep going till im the limiting factor, ya know......

Re: 10/22 Target
total investment with everything is less than $500. I did buy the 10/22 new when they still had metal trigger guards and were only $150 at wal-mart...

Nice setup! Do you ever get tired of putting rounds through the same hole in the target?

Well OK, maybe it's just my addictive personality!
But I am working on finishing up #2 and have plans for a third... lol!
#1.-model T stainless in laminate. bedded, some internal tweeks and polishing. Leapers 4-16x56/30mm tube(nice glass for the price) package weighs slightly less than a ton...
#2.-volquartsen carbon fiber tensioned barrel in a Hogue overmold. Again, internals worked to a slick sheen(but thinking about going w/ some PC springs and hammer), bedded action and floated barrel w/a Leapers 3-12x44/30mm tube. Now THIS is a nice carry piece. A little top heavy but hey, you can't hit what you can't see right!
#3.will be a tactical-solutions aluminum barrel set up as an LTR/tech sights.
But then again, they ARE addicting little pieces to play w/. And a HELL of a lot cheaper than feeding the several M1As I have...
Hookers and blow would be cheaper hobbies I am beginning to think!
