Default Beautiful old snake in the safe!

I got a call from my favorite fun shop telling me about this old Python that just came in on consignment. I was trying to save up for a Sig P210, new X5, or 556, but I completely lost focus when I saw her!

This gun was made in 1958 (4 digit serial #) and is in unbelievably clean condition. Unfortunately the seller didn't have to original box, but I did get the original wood grips with her.

    thanks

The grips are fake Ivory with Colt medallions. I have the original grips, but somebody painted clear on them and did a shitty job (WTF were they thinking??)

I going to try to strip the clear off and refinish them back to the original oil finish that Colt used back then.

Heres a pic to look at for your refinishing project.

    very nice!
the 50's Python grips are just oil stained - no clear at all on them. I've been looking at pictures of them over on the Colt Forum.

I don't want to mess up the originals and have to buy a new (used) pair. the old style are hard to find and they go for stupid money - about $300

This is what they look like. Note the checkering goes all the way to the top of the grip.
