    Default Luzerne County DRS Carry

Over the next month or more I will be going to Luzerne County DRS for many court hearings (Im trying to get full custody of my son) and have received death threats from my x-wife's boy friend, they have been reported to LEO's but as we all know it's only hearsay. But her BoyToy is a junkie and I would like to be ready to defend my self if need be. I have never carryed to a court building and would very much like to. I have read about the sheriff office having lockers to store handguns for legal carry people to store there guns while inside. But the Luzerne drs has a great big sign on the door saying no weapons blah blah blah crap. So does anyone know about if there are weapon lockers or will I walk in and go directly to jail? Has anyone ever went to Luzerne DRS armed? From what I have read all court buildings are by law suposta have the lockers and training to deal with armed people and what not but what about the signs. I have not been to a court house of any kind in many years but do not recall ever seeing a sign of this type before.. Any and all advice or experience with Luz DRS would be great..

    Thanx Löki

Ok so I made the call to DRS and was given the run around for about 10 mins and asked my full name about 20 times. Then told there was no one around for me to speak with, Then asked for my contact number and told they would call me back. They just called as I was typing this post and told me there would be a minor pain at this point in time because of them redoing the sidewalks at the main entrance. And the basement entrance must be used so I would have to wait for an extra officer to escort me to the first floor to the lockers. I'll be going there this Wednesday and plan on this being my first Real Open Carry. Wish me luck lol

They called again and this time it was my child support officer. Guess the people I spoke with the first two time ran my name and contacted my child support officer. He asked why I plan on bring a gun to a court house building. I responded for protection. He told me thats why they have security. And he advised me not to bring my gun saying it may cause my x to get excited. lol I told him I was with in my legal rights to carry a firearm and that his call has not changed my mind And thanked him for his call and to have a good day.

Tell them to take a pill and deal with it. As for the protection part, are they going to meet you at your front door, and then escort you home? I think not. The ex should get excited. She is living with a dirtbag who needs to be locked up. She is about to lose her meal ticket if the child is assigned to your custody. She is going to be excited no matter what.

Haven't been over to the DRS in a few years but even LEO's had to secure their firearms in a locker before being allowed to continue.

I DID IT! Open Carry to a court house is so much fun. I could not make it down there on Wednesday but I made it there today. I just got home and had to post this asap not because it was eventfull or bad or anything like that but because of how I open carryed my little walther p22. I know a 22 whats the big deal right. Well picture if you will blue jeans NRA Tshirt and a Tactical Leg Holster with a walther p22 with laser and a A1 Flash Hider and 2 extra clips. A stack of legal papers and a stack of open carry flyers. All being carryed by me 6 foot tall long hair hippie looking skinny guy. And this was my first real open carry aside from my glen loin story and open carrying while doing yard work.(Cutting my grass and what not). So it went like this got out of my dads car (I don't have a car) started my walk towards the basement door because the main doors walkway is being redone and the main door is blocked off still. To get to the basement door you have to walk in a small parking area to get to the door and this is where I had my first contact with a plain cloths leo sheriff of some kind I think, he was walking past my strong side and stopped looked me up and down and then began to speak (I thot to my self OMG I don't think im ready for this)

    leo...Nice setup you have there.
    Me...Thank you very much.
leo...May I have a flyer please my printer is broken And I would like to give one to my one friend to read.
Me...Sure can (handing him two flyers)
leo...Thank you, have a nice day and began to walk away.

I realy wanted to talk more with him find out if he seen the flyer here on the forums or someplace else and what his name was on the forums but my lawyer was waiting for me inside so I just went on my way.

Walked in there were two sheriffs at the desk chatting and as I walked in the one looked up and said sir please come with me to secure your firearm. He directed me to follow him with I found rather odd thinking he would want to walk behind me to make sure I was not going to pull my gun on him or anything but I guess I don't look like too much of a hippie. We got to the lockers and I disarmed my self put everything in there little tin can safe. They reminded me of high school lockers. Got a little note with my name his name and locker number on it and went about my business. Got done with everything I needed to do spoke with the sheriff that was on the 3erd floor where I had my business asking him to call down and have someone on the first floor so I could retrieve my gun he did. But as a side note here my x wifes lawyer heard me ask the sheriff to call down and the look he had on his face was priceless !

Got my gun back straped it on and walked out got a few more looks on the way but no one said anything and it seemed to me that everyone that walked by made a point to stay a few extra feet away from me.

All said and done it was great fun I just wish I had more of an opportunity to hand out flyers (I had printed out 25) but im guesing most people just thot I was a sheriff with plain cloths IMO .

Not to be negative or anything here Loki but just having gone threw messing with DRS and all be mindful that the other lawyer will try to use that against you. Sure it's legal and all but they will twist it in a way to make you look bad. "OMG he has a gun strapped to his side! What if his kid grabs it or something?!" I don't agree with this but I'm in a similar situation which is why I CC when I go to my ex's to grab my little one.

I had been to the DRS your talking about but that was before i got my LTCF but the officer there was kind enough to point out the sheriffs office when I went to the wrong building to apply.

Oh and BTW good luck with getting your kid and all Loki.

Nice job. It's good to hear about the good experiences. My one suggestion would be not to advertise in advance on a public forum where and when you will be carrying a firearm.

    But, that's just me.

I was at DRS somewhat recently. While the work on the stairs is being done, they pipe you around to the basement as said. When I went past "security", they were out in the garage smoking and I was never wanded or anything. There was no one even at the little station by the door.

I could'a brought in my AK47 and Mossberg if I had wanted to.

I can imagine emotions get pretty high in that place judging by the unhappy faces in the waiting room, lol. If they're trying to prevent carrying in there, I'm going to give them an F on my day.
