proof of pa residency - no utility bills
Last time I bought a firearm I had to proof 90 days of residency since I'm not an American citizen. I did this by providing utility bills.
Now I live somewhere where utilities are included in the rent, so I have no bills to show.
How does a lease work? What makes the lease acceptable as proof of residency (if it even qualifies)?
Can it just be a piece of paper with some sort of lease agreement written on it?
I currently don't have a lease because I just pay 3 weeks in advance, so I would have my landlord fill something out. I'm living in his home, renting a room, does he even qualify as a landlord and does he qualify to create a lease that I can use?
I have a second residency at home where my parents live. Obviously I can sleep there for free. Can I tell them that I live at home and don't have a lease - how would I proof that I live there?
I realize these are hard questions and since most of you are citizens I don't blame you if you don't know the answers.
If you have to guess your post will probably be useless, but if you know the answer I would be very appreciative.
My worst case scenario is that I have to move and wait 3 months to buy a firearm and that would be quite the inconvenience.
EDIT:
I should add that last time my arms broker wouldn't accept a pay stub, even though it had my home address on it.Last edited by th1alb; June 11th, 2009 at 09:46 PM.

Try to search on ATF web site. I find it to be informative and fairly easy to use. Wish you luck

Re: proof of pa residency - no utility bills
Fellow permanent resident here. Although I do have all the required bills since I own my place. So I fortunately don't share your problem.
I would try to use bank or credit card statements as well as cell phone and ISP bills. Visit your sheriff's office and ask them what they would accept. It appears that the background checks done for a LTCF are pretty much the same as for buying a firearm. So I'd guess your sheriff would know.
Good luck.
JanSo long and thanks for all the fish.

Re: proof of pa residency - no utility bills
Here are some things that should satisfy the gun dealer (taken directly from a 4473):
Utility Bills
Current Bank Statements
Rent Receipts
Mortgage Payments
Lease Agreements
Personal Property Tax Bills
Documents Issued by Federal, State or local government agencies
First Class Mail issued (sent to you) by government agencies
Insurance Policies
Bills with current address
Major Credit Card bills
By BATFE direction any or all of these will show proof of your residency.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

A PA drivers license wouldn't help meet these requirements?

A PA DL or some other type of government issued picture ID is also required. You can live in PA for one day and get the DL.

Doesn't your green card have your current address on it?
