Pocono
Anyone here going this weekend? Brother in law won two tickets so we are going. Wondering a good route to take from HBG area. Thought about taking 54 and then jumping on 903, I80 will be a nightmare I'm sure.

Re: Pocono
every road will be a nightmare, your safest bet would probably be the pike to 80 and then in that way (more lanes) or to head North on 115 from the broadheadsville area as it isn't used as heavily as the 80 route
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

81N-78E-476N-Mahoning Valley exit-209N-left on 534N right on 903 then right on 115.
or 534 into Jonas- right on Jonas Rd then left on Mountain Rd then left on
115. You`ll miss some traffic.

Re: Pocono
If you leave early enough, traffic won't be so bad. Last time I was at Pocono, we left the hotel (no idea where it was) about 6:00. didn't hit stopped traffic till right outside the parking areas. Cooked breakfast on the grill, washed it down with a few beers, took a nap, got up, drank a few beers, ate mid morning snack, drank a few beers.....

Re: Pocono
Not at freaking GUNPOINT could you get me there!
Besides HATING NASCAR there's no way I would deal with the traffic and the asshats.
Good luck getting in and out of there. I have friends that have gone and the traffic is just a living nightmare. I also heard the cost of food / beverages is just a freaking crime.

Re: Pocono
Its been some time since i went, but the trick is to eat and drink outside, oh, and you can bring your own swill in, at least you used to.
I actually had seats way at the top, under cover, had a buffet set up and an open bar AND out of the sun. Plus, I could see the whole track.
I do remember traffic being bad after, like 3 hours after when we were trying to leave, but I wasn't drivin, so that became nap time.

Re: Pocono
I have left Delaware County at 4AM and been parked at the track with encountering little traffic by 7AM. Then I do all the trackside events and tents until race time.
I've been to about 10 tracks on the NASCAR Cup schedule and Pocono ranks at the bottom of the list. There are no good seats IMO. No matter where you sit you cannot see all the way around the track. They really need to make the stands higher.
Also, IMO, the race is too long. It needs to be shortened like they did Dover.
I am allowed 3 races a year and Dover and Richmond are always on the list. The third one I get to pick anywhere. Pocono would never be on that list. The only way I go is if I get free tickets. Otherwise, Pocono is one track that I am fine watching from home.TalkPa.net - The Message Board and Forum For Pennsylvania

Re: Pocono
Darlington and Bristol would be the ones I would pick.

Re: Pocono
We plan on leaving from Lebanon around 530 am. We are going to go 81 to 54 to 209 to 903 to 115 and see how that goes, instead of 81 to 80 to 115. should be there by 8am. Will get to see a little of coal country on the way.
