    Default 8mm Mauser Headspacing

Just a quicky. I would like to know if I could test the headspace on my German K98k with a 30-06 field headspace gauge.

I herd that both rounds have the exact headspace, and are almost interchangeable.

Whoever told you that they were interchangeable is either a complete moron or a politician. They're not even close. You will need a actual 8mm headspace gauge.

The ballistics of the cartridges are close....but the cartridge dimensions are very different.

Very different animals when it comes to headspace...they aren't even the same caliber. 7.62 (.30) VS 7.92 (8mm).

    The .30-06 has a 63mm case and the 8mm has a 57mm case.
