Re: Listen to cell phone
looks like the software has to be downloaded to the phone itself. As long as the govt doesn't mandate this to be pre installed and you don't let people have your phone, nothing to worry about.

Re: Listen to cell phone
One more reason I am glad I never saw the value in having a cell phone. I hate those things and I am a technophile.

Re: Listen to cell phone
I always thought this was something they could only do in movies and TV. I didn't know it could really be done. When I was in high school my friend found that by tunning his radio to an A.M. station, he could hear his family on their cordless phone. He got into big trouble with that one as I recall.

Re: Listen to cell phone
oh yeah , some police have state of the art cell phone wiretapping devices they can monitor peoples calls if they are making drug deals over the cell phones , i figured it out how could they record the conversations over the phone i know most phone companies only provide phone numbers i doubt it they record phone calls. i dont have to worry about my privacy being invaded i am deaf i dont use a cell phone i use a TTY device and those are near impossible to decipher unless they have a tty device too and relay service will not tell the police what i talk about cuz its federal law they cannot record or indulge any information that i say over the relay service to any level of LEO.

Re: Listen to cell phone
I'd be very interested to know which carriers this works on and which phones. I say a lot of Motorola's when he dumped out that pag of phones.
In theory GSM is supposed to be "secure" from eves dropping as the voice traffic is encrypted but who knows. A lot of the older, non digitial techs that are still out there are completely unsecure.
The only way I can think of this working would be by making every call appear as a conference call from the phone or all outgoing calls going to a conference bridge or something similar.
**if ANYONE thinks that ANY form of communication is secure in todays world they are insane. The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
