    Default Ruger Mark III Sights...

I have a Ruger Mark III Hunter and I replaced the rear sight with the correct ruger part.

The Mark III Hunter comes with a fiber optic front sight and v-notched rear blade.

Upon replacing the rear blade with the Ruger part, I found out that the rear blade is considerably lower than the old v-notched rear blade.

Now I am filing down the replacement front site.

Just thought I'd vent my frustration. I'd really hate to have to go back to the v-notched rear blade.

    -Zach

*** EDIT *** I'm a jack ass! Next time turn the screw the other way. Somehow I expected turning it clockwise would raise the rear blade. Hopefully somebody got a laugh out of this.

I didn't like the fiberoptic front sight or the v-notch rear sight on my ss huntermodel either.I replaced both front and rear sights with the same type of sights found on the ss competition model and it shoots fine,or about as good as I'm gonna shoot it.I bought the sights directly from Ruger and I think it was less than $20.00.

Did you have to call to get price -- I can't find anything on their web site?

I'm looking for a decent but cheap as possible adjutable rear sight for a "project gun." The Ruger pistol target model rear sight would be just about perfect and if it's less than $20, the price is right. I can't find any part numbers or prices on their web site though. How did you get part numbers and prices?

    Thanks.
