Default Mark Inglis: More than a mere mortal

I don't know if anyone here watches the show Everest on Discovery, but tonights episode was absolutely amazing. Mark Inglis summitted on tonights episode. I know, dozens of people summit Everest every year so whats makes his summitting so amazing? Simple. He's a double amputee.

That is intense. I met Erik Weihenmeyer a couple years back. He is the only blind man and one of only a few worldwide who have climbed the peak of all 7 summits. Really inspiring individual.

Having no feet might work to his advantage. His toes can't get cold and he'd need less oxygen.

But also no ankle joints and no ability to "feel" his footing. I've been watching it every night and he didn't have an easy time of the climb, he fought for every inch of the climb. It's absolutely phenomenal to see someone overcome a challenge like that. I'll never again be able to say "I can't do it" without feeling a little shame in saying it.
