Just so you know, you brought back a thread from May 2007. The laws for carrying in a state park have changed since then. Since December 16, 2008, “licensees” may legally carry concealed or carry in a vehicle within a state park. A “licensee” includes anyone with a Pennsylvania license to carry a firearm (LTCF) or a license from a reciprocally recognized state for carrying concealed or, for carrying in a vehicle, anyone with a license from any state. [18 Pa.C.S. § 6109 (m.2)]

Open carry is still against Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) regulation, and can get you a fine up to $300 and/or 90 days in jail. [17 Pa. Code § 11.215]

Where does the State Park jurisdiction end? The road that I live on runs thru a state park and when I walk my dog in the winter I'm cc'ing but with summer coming I was planning on oc'ing. So my question is if I'm walking and oc'ing on a public road that goes thru a state park am I breaking the law?

Dennis call the park and speak to the Park Manager or if they have a Ranger Supervisor and ask for clarification.

If there is park on both sides of the road then that is within the jurisdiction of the park but if it's only on one side then, for enforcement purposes the rangers only have jurisdiction on the side bordering the park.

Just have to make sure by asking the manager where the property lines of the park are sometimes the Park Maps don't list all the correct property lines. Good luck.
