Lancaster Reintroduces Gun Ordinance
Lancaster Reintroduces Gun Ordinance Following Fatal Shooting
CBS 21 News
Reported by: Jenni Joyce
© 2009 Newport Television LLCLancaster Mayor Rick Gray is reintroducing a gun ordinance that would force gun owners to notify police within 72 hours of realizing a firearm is no longer in their possession.
The urgency comes days after a 9-year-old Lancaster girl is gunned down while visiting relatives in York.
[...]
“Some said, ‘was the gun used in the York shooting to kill a 9-year-old Lancaster girl lost or stolen?’ I said ‘frankly, it doesn’t make a difference,’” continues Gray.
The Mayor says the information is irrelevant now. He’s pushing the ordinance to protect the people of Lancaster in the future.
So... Mayor Gray is, basically, admitting that the 'gun laws' that he wants have nothing at all to do with the crime he is 'using' to try and get those laws passed.
Well, at least he's honest about his deceptive political practices.
.Cogito, ergo armatus sum....Say that to my face.

Re: Lancaster Reintroduces Gun Ordinance
I believe if a Lancaster City resident was charged with not reporting his gun stolen or lost all he has to say is it was stolen/lost outside of Lancaster City, therefore you lack jurisdiction to require me to report the lose. Go pound sand.
Mayor Gray knows this and I believe what he really wants is gun registration, which might give him grounds to require a Lancaster City resident to report a missing gun as part of the conditions of registration. He might even want yearly renewal of registration and require a fee.
Edited to add- better approach is to make them prove you had gun lost or stolen within Lancaster City, but idea still the same.Last edited by jack76590; May 13th, 2009 at 07:54 PM.

He's not honest, he's just an asshat. He's too stupid to even come up with a good lie.
So my gun gets stolen, how does that prevent someone from using it in a crime???? If you don't know the serial number, what good is telling anybody your gun is missing??? What an idiotic idea.I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.[

What part of the term preemption do these cities not understand?
"...a REPUBLIC, if you can keep it."

Only the most shameless, vile, and vulgar politicians parade around dead bodies to promote a political agenda. This state seems to be full of 'em these days.
Shame on them.

Re: Lancaster Reintroduces Gun Ordinance
Any mention of the shooter?
Was he/she lost, stolen, or on probation / parole after a budding career as a gang banger?

Re: Lancaster Reintroduces Gun Ordinance
How exactly does reporting a missing gun translate into taking it out of the hands of the person possessing it (illegally) now?
Unless they stumble over it by accident when running a gun seized illegally during a traffic stop, against the registry that doesn't exist. As if that's ever going to happen.
JanSo long and thanks for all the fish.
