Default O/C @ Hollidaysburg PSP barracks

My girlfriend (glock23girl) and i went into the Hollidaysburg State Police barracks on Friday so that i could get my fingerprint cards done for a forum 4. We both O/C and not a word was said or even a odd stare by any of the officers in the building. We did get funny looks buy a guy sitting on a bench but he was there for another reason.

On the way out Tiff was infront of the officer and I, and stated she was lost. The officer chuckled and said that was why he was with us, and then said he wasn't allowed to leave us roam free anyway, said something about evidence and having to keep people inside the barracks escorted the whole time. Then he said "Not that it matters, you have your gun. Mine is in my desk."

Then we were on our way home. I knew it was legal, but still was unsure how it would go, i was very pleased to say the least. Great day of O/C. +1 for the officers working at the Hburg Barracks.

Some PSP barracks have signs up prohibiting weapons inside the building.

You two rock. Did you drive up in your jeep. That would have been the best then.

So, a question: If they post it ' no weapons', is it really a prohibited place?
Logic would seem to indicate that , it being a state building, but not a school or court, prohibition would be preempted.
    Thoughts?

I never came across a law that specifically listed PSP barracks (or any PD station) as a prohibited place.

The only thing close is if they have detention facilities:

    18 Pa.C.S.A. § 5122 Weapons or implements for escape

    (a) Offenses defined.--

    (1) A person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree if he unlawfully introduces within a detention facility, correctional institution or mental hospital, or unlawfully provides an inmate thereof with any weapon, tool, implement, or other thing which may be used for escape.
'unlawfully' is not clear if this would apply to legal carry.

Being a state level facility, § 6120 preemption does not apply.

Anyone know why some PSP barracks are posted and their legal authority?
    IANAL
