new puppy (animal rescue)
We have been looking to buy a Lab for the family. But we decided that now's not the time to spend a lot of monies for that. My wife went by animal rescue yesterday and called me to say, you gotta see these Gorden Setter/Lab mix puppies. They had two. So we went over last night.
We got there and people were looking at them both. So we hung around until they decided on the other. We got te one my wife decided on earlier.
From what I can tell from just one night, he has good instinct on what his handle wants.
I'll try to train him, but the kids will probably negate my attempts.
Got some paws on him. Probably a good mix of Water Dog and Gun Dog.
Almost 5 months old.

Nice looking dog, my friend. The really nice additional part to this is that you've no doubt saved his life as well. Well done!

Congrats!
Looks like you made a good choice. Nice looking pup!

First... allow me to say "WOOF." Lovely dog. I'm always happy to see a rescue. I hope the other member of the pair found a home as well. If I was allowed a dog where I live now, I'd go spring that little bugger from the shelter in a heartbeat.
By the way... is his right-front leg partially shaven in the photo? Shots? Just being nosy.

no doubt, shelters are the way to go, good for you! We saved ShyShy 4 hours before she was set to be euth'd.

Very Cool !
The pup's name is "Tray"
Tray came in as a litter of 5, and another family was taking the last on as we were getting Tray.
Puppies go fast, it's some of the adults that are hard to place. A lot of adult pitbulls looking for homes.
The right front leg was shaven for an IV as animal rescue systematically neutered him
Still say he's got some ROT in him.

Or it could be that they're in a hurry and their best guess is just that, a guess.
Our adopted dog Pepé was labeled a "lab mix". He was ten months old and had spent three months at the shelter before we brought him home with us. I can tell you that the only thing he has in common with a lab is his black coat!
I jokingly call him a "piss-poor retriever" or "Labrador Non-Retriever" because he'll play with a ball but won't bring anything back to you!

Good luck and thanks for sharing the pics. I love seeing/meeting dogs. Pepé and I walk every day before work and again in the evening. He always looks for his "friends" to stop and play with as we make our way around the block.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
