Default Question about a friend with a felony...

Are there any laws on the books that would make it illegal for me to carry while I'm around a friend who has a felony on his record? He says that he is not allowed to be around me if I have my weapon on me. Anybody have any info on this? Thanks.

Is he on probation? If so, perhaps it's a condition of his probation?

I think it would be hard to say "felons can't be within X feet of someone with a gun." With all of the CC out there, how could you ever know?

Although it would give you an excellent reason to run from the cops.

He is on probation. He said that if a probation officer made a surprise visit to the house, that not only could the probation officer go through everything in the house, but could search me as well. "I don't fcuking think so!" was my reply.

Probation is one of those things that can cause a lot of grief for the probationer. The conditions of probation can vary widely and can include just about anything. If they told him he can't be around anyone with a gun, best to leave it at home if you are hanging out with him. You won't get in trouble but he could end up in jail.

I can understand that if he's on probation that he can't have guns in his home...even if it belongs to you. Once you're in public, as I said earlier, you simply couldn't enforce such a policy.

Damn straight, that is a direct violation of the constitution. Why should you be able to be searched because of someone else's actions (no offense to your friend)
