Montana's new gun law negates federal laws
New member here, triggered by my possible naive excitement over the implications of a new law signed in Montana. The law basically says that any gun that is manufactured and purchased all within the state of Montana is exempt from any federal firearms laws. The political implications here are extreme, as it is a state that is standing up the federal government to exercise its constitutional right to sovereignty. Utah and Texas are currently in discussions about following suit. I'm not too hopeful for PA, but first I just want to see how this all plays out.
Here is one article about it: http://www.atv.info/article.cfm?id=842
And here is the actual legislation: http://data.opi.mt.gov/bills/2009/billhtml/HB0246.htm
I really commend MT, and if this doesn't stick, it will probably mark the end of my belief that this country is still salvageable.
