Gun Control: The GOP asks what to do, Part I.
    John Longenecker

The GOP seems to be without direction. Still. Again. This is not a single issue article, it is a catch-all issue that is good for the country. Since you asked, stay with me.

When it comes to crime in America, the problem is far from intractable. Like most crises, it is only made to seem intractable. Millions of completed acts of brutality, theft, homicide and others are completed largely for lack of resistance. Political guidance to cooperate is not only surrender, but is a very bad bit of advice from people who don't live the life of the everyman and who do not face everyday risks. Advice to do nothing grows crime, and to 80 million adult gun owners, the advice is suspicious. People seem to get rich on crime. High technology – what I call electronic stalking – is worth tons of money in the name of fighting crime. It is largely a pre-emptive invasion of privacy in favor of piracy, official piracy, for new industries. RFID tracking, cameras everywhere, and a National ID Card don't really stop crime. England is one of the best case studies on the subject. One of the greatest dangers of such databases is the evolving paradigm of giving the database the last word over all evidence furnished by defendants, and it is growing. Accident or industry? There's a great way to short-circuit this predatory practice. It's a good bet it's part of what the People are looking for.

80 million gun owners are wondering why conservatives do not take a stronger stand on liberty, the best crime-fighting tool ever imagined. 80 million adults wonder why the armed citizen – citizen authority connection eludes conservatives almost as much as it eludes liberals.

Let's go back in time. The Founders defeated abuses of powers, and said ‘Never again' by creating a new nation where the citizen is to be the sovereign and the government our servant. That's all government. The Founders knew that as sovereign, we are the supreme authority in America. They also knew that this authority had to be backed by lethal force, and for one reason: that abuses of powers would occur again in every single generation, and so, they made the Second Amendment impervious to ordinary due process short of another amendment. Until that very hour, there could be no such thing as an illegal gun or sensible gun laws, for they would serve only to steal the power which backs our authority. This means one thing: all gun regulation is a challenge to our authority as supreme in this country.

The device for attacking the lethal force which backs our authority over officials is Crime, made to seem reasonable by the demand for sacrifice for fighting violence. Naturally, though, it grows crime by taking not only the weapons from the citizen, but their spirit as well. It becomes a predatory practice. The GOP must have no part of gun control, even the allegedly reasonable portions, for all gun regulation seeks to undermine the authority of your voters.

Ideas of regulation are to throw in with the statist views which seek to overthrow the authority of the United States, not government, but the citizen. This is in large part why Americans say there isn't a damned bit of difference between the parties. Be for so much as gun regulation and you miss the point of liberty, citizen authority, and of who is in charge in this country. Be for so much as sensible gun laws and you give only lip service to fighting crime and threats to our sovereignty.

What seems like a single issue – the repeal of all gun laws — is actually many issues for the GOP, and repealing of all gun laws is merely one plank on the liberty, self-rule platform which ought to be less lip service, and more protection of rights. It affirms the authority of the citizen as supreme under our system and erases attempts to challenge that authority. Gun control – even regulation – is an attempt to regulate the authority of the people over you. The secret to the success of the GOP next election will not be saying what the people want to hear, but imparting the actual understanding that liberty means reducing government, even if it means some of their own jobs. it's been tried, but maybe now the time is right.

This is where you start. The repeal of all guns will expose the frauds of so many anti-crime programs which cost the taxpayer and make people rich. Winning the next elections means showing the people that the GOP understands that the armed citizen impeaches many of the after-the-fact programs by tackling the problem during-the-fact, the moment when it's needed most. Remember that the citizen is in full legal authority to stop a crime in progress, to act in self-defense or defense of another, and that anti-crime programs obfuscate and discourage this authority against public policy and interest. Teaching Citizens CPR doesn't discredit the Paramedics, it saves lives while awaiting the Paramedics. The two work together to save lives. The armed citizen is the analog to citizen CPR and First-aid.

It is also one of the best kept secrets in the anti-gun movement. The GOP can have no part of this, and must articulate its understanding of the authority of their constituents and appreciate the armed citizen's role in really fighting crime. If you're going to stand up for liberty and smaller government, you'll have to stand up for the armed citizen first as the key to all liberty in this country.

Affirm the citizen's authority to fight crime and you reduce big government. Is this why the ball is hidden?

    More in Part II.

Gun Control: Again the GOP asks what to do, Part II.
    John Longenecker

What happens when tens of millions of non-gun owners and 80-million gun owners suddenly find themselves with something in common? In 2009, the gun owners and the non-gun owners are no longer disparate groups of the same country. I'm speaking of voting age adults. More than 100 million of them. What happens when the non-gun owner millions begin to experience precisely what the liberty purists have been predicting? Now it is here with banking scandals, taking of trillions of dollars, taking ownership and control of major industries, and on top of it, slamming fellow Americans for their political opinions of recognizing it all. If you see the man behind the curtain, you must be a right-wing extremist. Do you swallow that, or do you see a great deal of truth in the liberty purists who speak out?

But these drones forget one thing: We are all the United States, gun owners and non-gun owners. Servants are merely the servants we hire. That's extremist? Well, to the servants it might seem that way, huh? Such belligerence is beginning to lower the esteem the electorate has for public service. That could affect funding and public cooperation. Whose fault is that? Not ours.

Hopefully, 100 million become a force to be reckoned with. For the first time in a long time, gun owners have increased in large numbers and here is why: gun owners have always been responsible people who know their first responsibility is to self and loved ones. It's a good lesson for all adults to learn, because it breeds Independence and self-rule. Self-rule is a threat to demagoguery. The kind of people who prefer to be on their own in adult life (for even more obvious reasons now) notice also that it applies to fighting crime as much as when it comes to feeding their family. This preparedness is anathema to hundreds of anti-crime programs costing billions.

What if we had a nationwide movement of Independence from our servants as matter of personal dignity as much as citizen authority? I write that nothing puts the dignity in personal dignity better than the self in self-rule. We can depend on our servants for meat inspection, airline safety and other matters, but not for everything. We're facing now servants who want to serve us whether we like it or not, and it's become morbid. Gun control is not taking care of us, it's taking care of agencies, and citizens are still on their own anyway, only worse. It's time for the GOP to take up the repeal of all gun laws as a plank on its platform of reducing big government.

How does it all relate? Easy: hundreds of programs are based entirely on a theory of anti-violence, anti-hate or anti-crime, all the while seeking to disarm the electorate. Well, if you disarm people of their guns as well as their authority and of knowledge of their own U.S. History as well as increasing fatherless homes, crime grows. If crime grows, a lot of money flows. Repeal all gun laws to restore the official recognition of citizen authority and crime shrinks, along with the number of costly programs. Extremist, or good for the entire country? More are coming to realize that it's better for the country.

The average home may be knowledgeable in mortgage rates, auto care, fuel costs and consumer laws, but when it comes to how the household will meet, manage and survive a violent crime, being prepared for violence at home or away from home is the most neglected area of household management.

Where the GOP must come alive is in pure Guts in backing the concept of self-rule in liberty. Stop being courteous and well-dressed ladies and gentlemen as the definition of who you are, and stop being so patient as to give the left more and more time to come around. They're not going to come around: they're working on your coming around. Start focusing on guts and liberty as a definition of who you are. Be a liberty nut. Stop worrying about what people might think of you with their nasty leftist slings and arrows and just do what you're hired to do. Liberty and sovereignty of the citizen as independent of unreasonable pressures and mandates.

New candidates for the libertarian, independent or republican party, call your office. If you don't have one, because you're just getting ready to run, get one. Get nominated. Constituents, draft and nominate people who will do the job. Donate money. Get involved in your committees. Register voters and get out the vote. Campaign against the viciousness of the minions who support andlook forward to bigger government. From now on, the only sacrifice we need make is the time and energy of involvement and supervision. Missing this has been responsible for our getting into this mess to begin with, because the other side never sleeps.

From now on, the only sacrifice we need make is the time and energy of involvement and supervision. Missing this has been responsible for our getting into this mess to begin with, because the other side never sleeps.

Independence from our own public servants is a superb platform for the party of Lincoln and others of liberty. The GOP could take a lot of coaching from gun owners who understand independence, liberty and citizen authority better than almost anyone in office at this time. And, under our system, who would be better to consult than the electorate? Isn't that what the GOP says it's doing? It's all about freedom from bigger government, and, in spite of what liberals say about Americans wanting more government (services) I think the GOP ought to run on this platform to get elected. You may be very surprised at what the electorate really wants from you.

That is, if you really want to listen to your constituents. Whole states are invoking the tenth Amendment and seeking state sovereignty as a method of getting out from bigger government. That's no lip service, it is Action. That's poll enough for what constituents want. For now, tens of millions believe there isn't a damned bit of difference between the parties. Is there?

Run on a plank of the repeal of all gun laws and see what happens. Stop being afraid of what might happen. The repeal of all gun laws is the key to reducing bigger government.

    Liberty.

Gun Control: Again, the GOP asks what to do for 2010, Part III

Polarizing. Divisive. Extremist. People who want liberty by way of holding officials to their oath of office are polarizing, divisive and extremists. The viciousness continues. But if the GOP continues to be intimidated by the angry left, then the GOP is intimidated for political reasons. Polarizing, Divisive, Extremist, my foot.

The GOP needs to understand deeply what the constituency expects from it if it is going to build one which will really elect them. Nobody hires representatives to be polite and walked over, but to be partisan. Surrendering to pressure from the vicious left is to be polite and to abandon liberty as a duty. You're not doing anybody much good by letting the left eat your lunch and steal our money.

The GOP needs to understand that the constituency it would like to build is waiting for them to find their backbone, and to know something about liberty and who the sovereign is in this country. You see, the left's constituency doesn't want to be sovereign, but dependent. It is the feel-good, take-care-of-me party, and a lot of demagogues are just waiting in line to ‘serve' them. This is no difference of opinion, it is a difference in goals. Gun control plays an important part of this dependency on government, as guns are taken with nothing better to replace the concept. Crime grows, more mandates are handed down as anti-crime programs, and revenues flow to feed these programs. Coming from the dependant personality – the anti-liberty personality – is one thing, but when it comes from servants sworn to protect our way of life, it threatens our sovereignty.

Naturally, the independent can see this coming (it happens in other countries) and we fight to protect the nation from such dependency. They did not have a Constitution to summon. We do. For this reason, the millions of independent who don't need or want government service as much as government wants to give are castigated as extremist.

Being the party of No, then, is hardly enough, it needs to be the party of affirming discernment and guts, and understand what conservatives are waiting for from the GOP: Liberty, and not the feel-good, take-care-of-me demagoguery of pre-teen thinking. This is where millions of adults believe there isn't a damned bit of difference between the parties. Demagoguery is billed as compassion and social justice and has turned out to be predatory. Resisting this is derided as hateful and bigoted. Believe me, millions are waiting to see guts for the values we have, that's follow-through and protection of the safeguards of our nation.

If the GOP really is for smaller government, it will have to see the armed citizen – smaller government connection and to have some guts about it. The armed citizen, by way of his/her overall philosophy of independence from our servants, can impeach (that means discredit) so many of the stupid programs which crafted by our servants which go against our better judgment and cost us billions. This makes crime a cash crop which pays well, one which must be kept growing.

Stupid programs have moved beyond the nanny state now into utter dependency, and their contempt for and anger at independence and liberty itself is showing. In order for these to payout, the armed citizen must be eliminated as a safeguard of liberty, along with intact families, and other safeguards of our country.

Tens of millions of non-gun owners are saying they get this connection by buying weapons and in the increasing numbers of applications for concealed carry permits. The idea is not to get them while you can if the Administration comes for them, but the foresight that such stupid anti-liberty programs are on the increase and how they will adversely affect asset response times, crime policy, funding and asset maintenance, priorities of dispatched calls, public private relations and many more. In other words, we're on our own, and as more Americans really come to realize this, the philosophy of overall Independence grows, and officials dislike it. Hence, gun bans and fighting like mad for more gun control.

This is how gun control affects non-gun owners. It kills independence for everyone.

As long as the armed citizen is frustrated under gun control — or even regulated — billions of dollars can be justified in the minds of people who feel they are cooperating with fighting crime. Of course, it's not supposed to work, only give that impression, because the programs are too profitable, too much money involved.

With gun control and crime growing thanks to gun control, all sorts of horrible anti-crime programs will grow and pay, including electronic stalking, another multi-billion dollar industry which depends on crime. Is the GOP afraid of the armed citizen, too? Does the GOP stand for smaller government, but frustrates the engine of smaller government, Independence from our servants?

We need government because we need servants, but when the servants demand too much in their self interest over ours, they need to be cut back for the good of the country. The armed citizen impeaches big government, much of which is unnecessary to begin with. Punishing US is a dead giveaway.

Remember that their sort of viciousness is not real courage, it's too easy to be vicious; liberty is courage. It doesn't take courage to change America, it takes courage to keep it. The GOP needs to find its backbone before it will find its voice.

The GOP needs to repeal all gun laws and say so on their platform. Any GOP candidates for office need to have the guts to stand for the repeal of the gun laws which permit crime to grow and the stealing of our money in funding programs which otherwise are not even needed.

Any GOP candidate needs to see the connection between the armed citizen and all of liberty in America — and be able to articulate it clearly. Boldly.

You can be sure the liberals won't steal the idea.

Americans are waiting to see candidates who get it, and if that means listening, then listen.

Begin with the repeal of all gun laws.
