    Default 410

I want to get a 410 double barrel for rabbit hunting. I need input on side by side vs over/ under. never shot either and I dont want to buy both to see which one I like better.

A SXS is a O/U with the barrels on wrong.

What you need to do is go to any of your local shooting clubs and talk with the trap shooters, skeet or sporting clay shooters. Most of them will be using O/U's but more than a few guys own both and many folks will let you shoot their guns before you buy.

Most guys love one and hate the other.

I'm a stack barrel guy myself...dont care for the SXS.

I've been shotgunning (mostly skeet) for over 25 years. I never warmed up to SxS shotguns. To me it makes it harder to visualize your lead on the target. Naturally it's not as pronounced with a .410 since the total width of the barrels is much narrower. Personally, I'd go with an O/U....my next choice would be to find a Mossberg .410 pump.

If you learned to shoot with a single sighting plain it is hard to switch to a dbl. barrel. I love the look and feel of a good double but can not hit the barn door with one.

Nothing comes up to your shoulder and points like SXS. I shoot them both but it's the SXSs that go hunting. I learned to shoot Churchill style and so the sighting plane difference is not a factor.

All the rabbits, birds, and squirrels I've ever seen had eyes like this.

If god wanted you to shoot an over/under, he would've put your eyes that way.

Since birds, rabbits and squirrels all have one eye on each side of their head....you guys must be shooting zoo animals at point blank range through a fence!

The only way to settle this is to have a "king of the jungle" shoot...sxs vs. the over under. I'm willing to bring "Purple Thunder" out to the Burgh to shoot against a gun or two with the barrels on wrong.

I will give you credit... your pic was funny.

    regards,
