    Default Building DPMS LR308:

Being new to the .308 AR arena:

Will a standard mil-spec M-4 buffer tube work on a DPMS LR308 lower?
I already have a DPMS 308 carbine buffer spring and DPMS 308 buffer on order from Midway.

Now, I just need to find an upper half.

    Thanks.

Good luck finding DPMS LR parts...they are tough to get these days and the prices are nuts as well.

I've owned two DPMS LR...great rifles, but man they are heavy.

I have the lower and all the lower part together, except for the stock.
The upper is going to be a challenge.

    Thanks.
    Nope.

The .308 uses a much heavier buffer spring. Standard M-4 buffer wont cut it.

I dont know if the heavier spring and buffer will fit into the M-4 tube...

I had a LR-308C (TAC20) till 2 week ago. Sold it. IT was an awesome rifle, but I wanted some other stuff more than I wanted to keep the .308. With the 20" heavy barrel I was getting .75 MOA

    bold mine

It should. My standard Magpul UBR fit fine. I have not yet fired it, but manual operations seem fine.

The differences in stocks seems to be related to the elevated cheek rests - think Magpul PRS. The AR10/LR308 models seem to have a greater distance behind the receiver to allow sufficient clearance for the longer charging handle throw.
